New Article in a New Section:
Letters from New OrleansCLICK
This is a true gift, one we feel blessed to have received, and blessed to be able to share with you

Julie Condy is the Executive Director of Stage-to-Stage, a children's theater group in New Orleans. In her spare time, she is a professional opera singer with the New Orleans Opera Association.

These days, though, Julie is one of the million or so people in the New Orleans area trying to make sense of her world. Through her emails to us, she has been sharing what life was like in the "real" New Orleans (away from Bourbon Street) before the storm, and what has happened to her home since then.

Julie's writing is vivid, her imagery astounding, and most amazingly, her optimism is eternal. As you read this first letter in what will be an ongoing series, you will feel as if you are right there with her. Please join us as we welcome Julie's Letters from New Orleans to our website. We know you will agree this is a gift to pass along to others during this especially important holiday season.

An Old Favorite:
The Sound a Thank You Makes CLICK
Since this article first appeared in our newsletter in 2003, it has been one of the most popular at the Help 4 NonProfits site. Not just at holiday time, but all the time - giving thanks is among the most joyful things we can do.

And at this time of year, when we all are just a tad stressed, we wish you all the joy that comes with saying Thank You.CLICK

Our New Book!
FriendRaising: Community Engagement Strategies for Boards Who Hate Fundraising but Love Making FriendsCLICK

If your board hates fundraising
if your programs are seeking sustainability
If you care about making significant impact in your community
You are going to love FriendRaising!

FriendRaising is over 200 pages, with 89 step-by-step strategies for engaging friends for your organization's mission. And when we say "friends" we don't mean "donors." We mean real friends - the kind who will help with far more than just money. Read the introduction and you will know this is not just another fundraising fad. (We have posted the Introduction and the Table of Contents on our website. CLICK ) This is a whole different way of doing the things that haven't worked very well when we have done them the old way!

To celebrate our new book, we have a special holiday gift, just for our subscribers. Many of you know that we had hoped FriendRaising would be released last month, so you would have it in time for the holidays. Obviously that was not meant to be. And so, because FriendRaising will not be officially released until January 10th, Hildy will sign all books reserved prior to that official release. (And if you want a special inscription, let us know!)

We know you will love this book. And we know you will use it till it is worn and torn! To reserve your signed copy, CLICK

Reminder to Workshop Attendees:
Use the Workbook!
If you attended one of our workshops this year, it is probably time to pull out the workbook you received, and read it again! Last month we were reminded of how those workbooks get stuck on a shelf and forgotten, when a workshop attendee called to ask for our help creating her organization's Asset-Based Fund Development Plan. When our schedule precluded working with them as quickly as they had hoped, we encouraged them to go back to the workbook, to see how far they could get on their own. Three days later, we received an email telling us they had gone through all the worksheets, and they were on their way!

So if you have been to one of our workshops, don't let that workbook sit on a shelf. Get it out, and start using it!

Share This Newsletter:
Every month, hundreds of new subscribers sign up for our e-newsletter, most of whom learn about our site from a friend or colleague. Here’s one of our favorite comments this month:

"Thank you very much for the reams of information provided on your website. I am cofounder of an organization that just incorporated, and I just felt it necessary to show my appreciation for your efforts. Thank you!"

D. Seabolt
Sun Valley, Nevada

Because board members receive little information on how to do their job better, please be sure to pass this newsletter along to your board. Or better yet, sign them all up to receive a copy of their own!

Sneak Preview:

Great Stuff On the Way!
This past year was an amazing one for us at Help 4 NonProfits, as we traveled and taught and wrote and then tried to share what we had learned with all of you. (If you are a new subscriber, you can check out past newsletters - just click on the archived issues on the left-hand side of the page.) CLICK

So what's in store for 2006? Of course there will be more articles and more products. Hildy has at least 2 more books playing around in her head, and we are hoping at least one of them materializes during the coming year.

Mostly, we are looking forward to meeting many of you as we travel around, doing workshops and keynote addresses, showing the path to creating significant visionary impact in our communities - using Community-Driven approaches for the work voluntary organizations do.

Thank you, as always, for the work you do to make your communities better places to live. We wish for you all the possibilities life holds.
